Our most popular boat cruise: a two-hour dolphin tour from Fažana harbour. We head out into the open Adriatic and scan for the bottlenose dolphin pods that live in these waters year-round. When we find them, the captain cuts the engine and lets them come to us — you'll see them surfacing just metres from the boat. The route follows the edge of Brijuni National Park, so the island scenery alone makes the trip worthwhile. A welcome drink is included, commentary comes in four languages, and groups stay small at up to 50 guests.

A few practical notes before you book a dolphin tour or boat cruise from Fažana, just outside Pula.
Bottlenose dolphins live in the Fažana channel and around Brijuni National Park year-round, so there is no single season for them. What changes is the sea. Our dolphin watching cruise leaves Fažana at 17:30, when the wind usually drops and the water flattens — on calm water a dorsal fin is visible from much further away, and the low evening sun over the Brijuni islands is what most guests end up photographing.
From the harbour we head into the open Adriatic and along the edge of the national park — the stretch of coast this family has fished and sailed for more than twenty years. The crew knows where the pods tend to feed at that hour, and keeps a respectful distance, cutting the engine so the dolphins can approach the boat on their own terms.
About a 15-minute drive. Fažana sits just up the Istrian coast from Pula, and the boat leaves from Ulica Titova Riva on the waterfront. There is free street parking along the pier, and bus line 21 from Pula stops 200 m away — roughly a 20-minute ride.
Usually, but they are wild animals and nobody can promise a sighting. The pods live here year-round and the captain spends the whole cruise looking for them. If they stay away, you still get two hours on the open Adriatic and the Brijuni National Park coastline seen from the water — guests often tell us the sunset alone was worth it.
A light layer for the breeze once the sun drops, sunscreen, a hat and a camera — binoculars help too. A welcome drink is included and dogs are welcome. You pay in person on the boat rather than online, so bring the fare with you. For a private charter, add swimwear and a towel.
